Girvi interest schemes the software supports

Monthly, daily, 15-day slab, 1 month compulsory, compound after 11 / 12 months and more — set once, applied on every girvi.

Monthly

Most common
  • Interest = amount × rate % per month × months
  • Girvi date and release date are both counted
  • Choose how a part month is charged: full, completed only, day-wise or 15-day slab

15 days slab

Half / full month
  • After full months, 15 days or less = ½ month
  • More than 15 days = 1 full month
  • Popular with pawn brokers for fair, simple billing

One month compulsory

Minimum interest
  • At least 1 month interest even if released early
  • Then monthly, 15-day slab or daily after the first month
  • Minimum can also be days or a fixed amount

Daily

Day-wise
  • Per-day rate = monthly rate ÷ 30
  • Charged for the exact number of days
  • Good for short-term loans

Weekly, quarterly & yearly

Other periods
  • Weekly = rate ÷ 4, quarterly = rate × 3, yearly = rate × 12
  • Yearly-always and one-month-then-weekly schemes built in

Compound after 11 / 12 months

Unpaid interest added
  • Unpaid interest is added to the principal after N months
  • Can repeat every N periods, with an optional limit
  • Count from the bill date, expiry, due date or last paid date
  • Paid interest is never compounded

Your own scheme

Fully custom
  • Duplicate any built-in scheme and change the rules
  • Rounding: none, nearest, up or down
  • The scheme is frozen on each bill — later changes affect only new bills

Part payment & top-up rules

Store-wide
  • When a top-up starts earning interest
  • When a part payment reduces the principal (current or next cycle)
  • Whether old interest must be cleared first

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep different schemes for different customers?
Yes. Each girvi bill gets its own scheme and rate, and the scheme is frozen on the bill — changing a scheme later only affects new bills.
Can I make my own interest scheme?
Yes. Start from a built-in scheme, duplicate it and change the period, part-month rule, minimum months, compound rules or rounding.
What happens on part payment or top-up?
Store-wide rules decide when a top-up starts earning interest and when a part payment reduces the principal (current or next cycle), and whether old interest must be cleared first.
